Binary protocol

This probe transmits binary data to the specified host and port, receives answer in binary format and transforms it to the human-readable format using the given rules.

Hostname

Server IP address or DNS name.

Port

Port number.

Response port number in the range 49152-65535.

Data to be sent to the specified host in the format: xx:yy:zz.

Parsing parameters

Parameters of displaying check results in the Data table.

Timeout

Maximum time to perform the check in milliseconds (30 seconds by default).

Period

How often to perform the check (60 seconds by default).

After the check has been done result is displayed in the Data table:

Known problems and errors

Sensor error! Receive timed out (UDP)

The check has been performing longer, then it is specified in the field Timeout.

Increase Timeout.

Sensor error! Connection refused (Connection refused).

Probable reasons:

  • the specified port number is incorrect;

  • firewall blocks the specified port;

  • the specified hostname is incorrect;

  • the specified hostname is not available from the network, where the check was performed.

Check the correctness of the specified port number.

Check the firewall rules and make sure that the specified port is not among the blocking rules.

Check the correctness of the specified hostname.
