Agent installation and configuration

The agent can be installed to operating systems with Java SE v.6, v.7 and v.8 support: Linux, Windows, MacOS X. It is also possible to install an agent to an automation controller Wiren Board 6 based on Linux.

The latest agent version can be downloaded from our website.

Agent installation to the system server provides for the possibility of simplified autoinstallation procedure.

In Linux the saymon user is automatically created during the installation process. The agent will work on behalf of this user.

If there is already a user in the system with such login, the agent will work on their behalf.

Installation paths by default:

  • Windows 32bit: C:\Program Files\SAYMON Agent

  • Windows 64bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAYMON Agent

  • nix: /opt/saymon-agent

In case agent installation is not possible or not acceptable, agentless monitoring can be set up.

The details about natures of monitoring are described in the article Active and passive monitoring - agentful vs. agentless.
