Two objects can be connected with a link.
A link can represent not only physical connection between objects (power or network cable) but also logical connection such as data stream between different software services.
Just like objects, links have states, properties and documentation. Links get their states depending on their monitoring options, like objects do. For example, the state of physical connection between two hosts can be changed depending on ping statistics from the first host to the second one.
